Full release is apparently Sept 15th, which is apparently 3 days before the next season of the tv show. Maybe they'll advertise this mmo. If you sign in on that page with your Station account info you won't be asked to create a new account. Click on Beta and let the fun begin.

*EDIT* It appears to be borked? Not sure, but it tells me my graphics drivers are out of date and I'm pretty sure nothing CWA is doing is beyond a month old version of ATI drivers for my 5770. Please update if you get in.

The Letter

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away…

On a remote planet somewhere in the Dantooine system a fuzzy rough looking wookie named Yivvits was foraging for a hidden treasure. In these times of galactic economic recession Yivvits needed to tap into his stash of anti lava flea shampoo. What Yivvits did not know is that he will find more than just medicated shampoo on this adventure and it all starts with a beep…

Yivvits is a hard working wookie that is always up to something. It was a normal day for Yivvits and it started out with his breakfast of little Debbie wookakes and to drink a liter and a half of diet Pepsi max. Then he went to take his weekly shower when he noticed something wrong… he was out of his special shampoo! Yivvits immediately went to the local wampa mart and saw that prices went up on his brand, which is the only brand Yivvits will use. Yivvits being the thrifty wookie that he is decided to go get his secret stash reserved for emergencies like this. So the wookie prepped his star fighter and set course for a secret planet in the Dantooine system.

The planet was a small dark forested planet full of creatures that would make even the bravest wookies screech and hiss. A perfect hiding spot for the cache of shampoo yivvits had hidden! As yivvits landed in the wet marsh of the planet his on board computer was making a racket….

Yivvits- RAWARARWAR!

The computer immediately quieted down and yivvits proceeded to continue looking for his cache of shampoo.

Sound slightly familiar?

No, it's not a rip off of the plot of ANH but a short synopsis of Akira Kurisawa's 1958 film "The Hidden Fortress" (Interestingly, it's a jidai-geki or period drama but jidai? Interesting sounding word ;) )

It would have been Kurasawa's 100th birthday this week so, if you have a Blockbusters or Netflix, grab a copy and wonder at just how much Star Wars has to thank this film for...

Apparently LA have decided, in the EU novels, to 'reposition' the Mandalorians as, now, I'd actually recommend sitting down and hanging on to some heavy furniture before reading this next bit.... Long Standing Pacifists.

Dudes... the Fett was no tree hugging, chakra adjusting, sandal knitting pacifist. Nor was his daddy nor his daddies daddy before him.

In the words of the great poet philosophers "The Firm" - "We Come In Peace - Shoot To Kill".

Now, while we are all great believers in the Maker's right to do what he wants with his IP, this, in this fanboys opinion, is just mental.

Hey, let's craft a believable world in which the Republic Commandos, the Clone Army and the entire Mandalorian race get treated like characters in solid storylines that actually make you care, like, dislike and maybe even mist up a little over what happens to them. Let's have those storylines tying in with a whole slew of books that tell what's happened to Luke, Han, Leia and their kids / grandkids and manage to portray Boba Fett as something more than the two dimensional cardboard cutout character that he has been shown as in the past...

... and then toss the lot in the bin as we've decided to head off in a totally different direction. Making the Mandies 'long standing pacificsts', or 'the Swiss, and turning Mandalor into a blasted wasteland, a post apocalyptic desert rather than a resource rich planetoid at the centre of a trans-galactic business empire smacks, to me, of the Karen McIntyring of SWG. "We're gonnan dumb this down and reporsishun it fur the yungsturs as, like, thinking? It's too hard, durrr..."

But hey, it'll make a great back story for a new game / book / tv series I guess.

Till they do another 180 on it and leave yet another bunch of satisfied customers going "Huh? WTH was that??"

At which moment we can all smile wryly and say....

"Classic George. That's classic George..."

Well, I really haven't been in game much lately as I have been busy irl. But also I have been playing another game. In fact, I have been sent to you to invite you, and any others who would like, to come to play the game where I have been spending a little time.

I don't know what your view or thoughts are on the subject of the EMU ( /looks around quickly) and if you are opposed, I hope that I do not offend you, but there is a party planned with TrueGalaxies to meet on the SWGEMU Nova test center this comming Saturday. I think it's at 6 pm eastern. It would be a treat for us if you would come. Don't worry, you can play both games if you like and not have any problems, like I do.

I will check back here to see what you say.

Alright, a few minutes ago, I just watched the E3 presentation of Star Wars The Old Republic. If anyone else saw it also, I bet they would be just as excited as I was.

Unfortunatley, the game doesn't look as good as the actual trailer, but the trailer was AMAZING!

I haven't been this pumped for a game ever since The Force Unleased was announced (except that time, it wasn't for PC) This MMO just gained thousands of more fans in that two minute trailer... I think. The crowd sure liked it.

It's only a matter of time before they post the presentation on the ToR website.
