(Yeah, tell me you haven't thought that at least once...)

((but only in a caring way, of course))

In my eyes, Lucas really redeemed himself with episode 3 then completely tarnished it with the new animated series.  I will wait for the live action series to make my final decision on whether or not george should live or not Devil

See, I rather like the animated series. Does it have some "campy" silly stuff? Sure, but let's not forget it IS an animated series. If you look at the age group the show is likely marketed to it makes sense. Also, it doesn't have THAT much silly stuff and most of the voice over is performed better than the dialog in episodes 1-3.

What exactly were you expecting from it?

I'd shake your hand, but I still have the ticket collector at the starport targeted.

only one thing to say

Well, I must say I like the tv series than the movie. Some of the small things just drove me nuts (Skyguy, Snips, Artooie).  But I thought that it was headed in a good direction after episode 3 and the original clone wars cartoons were pretty good too.  That appealed to a younger audience but still was tolerable to watch for the die hard star wars fans yearning for more content.  I just don't like the new style i guess.

Well, as a die hard SW fan of some thirty years standing...  I really liked the animated film and am seriously looking forward to getting to sit down and watch the series "soon".

The Skyguy/Snips schtick I liked.  OK, it's maybe a wee bit on the twee side but she's pricking Ani's big pompous butt and getting a reaction out of him.  And he's having to learn how to deal with somebody who he has been made responsable for.   It's good stuff :)

Artooie and the moronic chatter of the droids, that just grated though. Eeesh.

Well, I can tell you this.  I'm 37, and I "Like" the series.  My step son is 11 and he LOVES the series.

I guess it's targeted at him :)

Lucas pretty much skrewd SW over when EP I came around i mean its not bad it was made so a younger audence would get hooked to SW but then there was EP 2 to much lovey dovey crap but then made up in EP 3 then skrewd up again with Clonewars with the older audience but got younger age group into it not sayin that all that bad (though it might bring more of the more annoying to SWG). O well maybe Lucas can redeem himself once more. But there is nothing like the classics.

Well, it's "a" truth.  Or rather, it's a perspective.

All movies are made to 'hook' an audience, so why should Ep1 have been any different? Okay, when I say 'all' movies, the Rocky series took it to extremes and by Rocky III it was just a sausage machine churning out more of the same but is that what we'd have wanted from SW?  No story development, no exploring the characters back history?

The lovey dovey crap in EpII was there because that was what the character was going through at that time.  Showing that Anakin before Cader had very human feelings, could love and love DEEPLY but was also very, very conflicted about his loyalty added depth and resonance to the story.  Without it? Another 90 minutes of glow stick waving and "OOh i are hates you!!" "noes! I are hates you moar!!".

Might work in a three minute Tom and Jerry cartoon but in a film? For a mixed audience? Less sure of how good it'd have been.

Bear in mind that I'm writing this as somebody who, first time I saw Jar Jar, went "Oh come ON!! WTH is he doing?" but, over time, I've started to see a bit more in even that character.

Yeah, maybe it's something in the KoolAid here but, y'know, as a wise man said, it's all true, from a certain point of view.

Yeah I see where you are coming from. For me it all is still Star Wars and I love it no matter what. Its just not the direction I would like to see it headed in.
